The beautiful, minimalist, black & white front cover to what would sickeningly be John Lennon last record album really gaining control the special human human relationship between the John and Yoko, a human human relationship that survived  some serious low pressure point - but the love won out And the enduring power of their human relationship is what “Double Fantasy” is a jubilation of and a remarkable ode to. Sadly a farewell one.

The shot was apparently inspired by a exposure of “the fifth Beatle” Gilbert Stuart Sutcliffe and his girlfriend, German lensman and artist Astrid Kirchherr. Liverpudlian Sutcliffe was the first bassist in The Beatles and one of Jasper Johns best friends. He turned his back on the circle in order to pursue a vocation in the kingdom of picture He died in 1962, aged only 21.

The sleeve was designed by St. Christopher Whorf of fine art Hotel’, while the concealment photographs were taken by Kishin Shinoyama.

The nice shot on the back concealment is a photo of watt second & Y taken right outside the Dakota flat building - John Lennon residence - right on exchange Park - during the summer of 1980.

Incidentally, the back concealment shot was later considerably cropped on the Cd version of the album, significance that therein you don’t get to see the attractive scrap bin behind Yoko!

Interestingly, on the inner sleeve , “Double Fantasy” is subtitled … A bosom Play’

The inner sleeve contains all the language to the track and and force list, but surprisingly no photographs.
