A relationship that is irrevocably damaged and doomed … “And the gall drive high but emotion wont grow.” One that’s devolved into hate where the couple emotion have no hope of ressurection but will only deteriorate even further. They’re both ‘different people now compared to when they were Wed some four years earlier … “We’re changing our ways, taking different roads.” He know this love has died.

The nisus compounded yet further by the fact that he cant understand how or why things ended up in this dire state … “Is it something so good just cant function no more?” Beneath the hate, some coal of what they had - will always have - still burn …. “there’s still this appeal that we’ve kept through our lives.”

They’ve been torn apart though by a powerful love.

The wonderful original vocal was recorded at strawberry Studios, Stockport, Lancs in early Mar 1980 and released as a single by joyousness division in April 1980 - just a few week before Glenn Hammond Curtiss tragic self-annihilation The vocal was actually intended for release on 24th May 1980, at which time joyousness division would’ve been in the middle of their first U.S circuit Sadly Ian died on the 19th of May.

It became the circle first chart hit, stretch number 13 in the UK.

“Love Will teardrop Us Apart” was rated by British music magazine NME as the best single of all time in 2002.
